Young-at-Heart Award Honoree, 2017

The Young-at-Heart Award is presented annually by the CYP Club to community leaders who support our vision of engaging the next generation and who approach life with a youthful zeal.

Jeffrey D. Damron is the Executive Vice President of Advancement & Development in the National Office at A Kid Again. Damron was C.E.O. of A Kid Again from 1997 – 2017. A Kid Again is a nonprofit organization fostering Hope, Happiness and Healing for families raising kids with life-threatening illnesses. The organization provides cost-free, fun-filled group activities, called Adventures. Adventures take place at exciting places such as, Kings Island, the Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati Zoos, the Reds, the Indians, Cedar Point and many more. Because the entire family is struggling to survive the challenges of the child’s illness, everyone is included in the Adventures.

After working for a wish-granting organization for 7 years, Damron was hired as the first staff member of A Kid Again in 1997. The organization has built strong and lasting relationships with generous donors, a small devoted staff, amazing volunteers and a dedicated and very generous Board. At A Kid Again, it’s Kids First! … and Powerful Partnerships make it happen!

Damron graduated from The Ohio State University in 1982. He resides in Gahanna, Ohio with his wife, Sue. He and his wife Sue have two sons, Derek and Nick and a daughter-in-law, Meaghan and four spectacular grandchildren. They enjoy serving at Jersey Baptist Church where they have been members for over 25 years.

In September 2017, Damron was excited to welcome Oyauma Garrison to A Kid Again as President and C.E.O. He is excited to shift to a supportive role to Mr. Garrison as the EVP. Damron’s dream of growing across America will soon be a reality.
