Christie Angel

Young-at-Heart Award Honoree, 2018

The Young-at-Heart Award is presented annually by the CYP Club to community leaders who support our vision of engaging the next generation and who approach life with a youthful zeal.

Christie Angel is president and chief executive officer of YWCA Columbus, one of the community’s most respected organizations dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women. Angel oversees the organization, which serves women and families in the greater Columbus area. Angela joined YWCA Columbus in December 2017, bringing more than 30 years of expertise in philanthropy, economic development, public infrastructure, housing and grants management, health and human services and government procurement.

Prior to joining YWCA Columbus, Angel was principal of government relations and public affairs for Calfee Strategic Solutions. She provided counsel and advisory services to businesses and non-profit organizations on local government, business strategies, and community relations matters.

Previously, Angel was deputy chief of staff and external affairs and services director to former Columbus Mayor Michel B. Coleman. She was a government affairs principal for a telecommunications company, a boutique government relations firm and legislative aide to Coleman when he served on Columbus City Council. She also spent several years working in the non-profit sector on housing and homeless issues.

An active community volunteer, Angel has served on numerous community boards and commissions, including: Greater Columbus Arts Council and Campus Partners for Community Urban Redevelopment, CAPA, Community Shelter Board, YWCA and Women’s Fund of Central Ohio among others.

She and her husband, Otto Beatty, III, reside in German Village with Betty, their Toy Fox Terrier.
